Job Title: Senior Windows Administrator
Deploys the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of server operating systems, related utilities, hardware and other infrastructure components for production and non-production environments. This position troubleshoots server problems and will research, evaluate and recommend software and hardware products. Supports server platforms and messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment. Specifies hardware needs based on application requirements and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure. This position will be accountable for enterprise servers; operating systems; and windows application services which support business applications. It also includes the support of our internal IT business architecture including availability management, incident management, project delivery, risk management, and change & release management. A successful candidate should be a self-starter, who has a sense of urgency, and can meet deadlines despite obstacles. The candidate must have strong multi-tasking skills; be detailed-oriented, and be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.
Required skills and experience:
a. At least 10 years of hands-on administration of Windows Server Operating Systems. Prefer Windows Server 2008.
b. At least 10 years of hands-on administration of supporting windows application services including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, print services, terminal services, and file services.
c. At least 10 years of hands-on administration of server clusters using Microsoft clustering services.
d. At least 5 years of hands-on administration of Citrix Presentation Server supporting multiple-location farms of users from multiple locations.
e. Deep knowledge & ability to explain window server and application concepts such as Windows Server OS architecture, AD organizational design, AD replication, AD server roles, Forests vs. Domains, Group Policy, DHCP design, and DNS design.
f. Experience with server virtualization. Prefer Microsoft Hyper-V
g. Experience with backup and recovery software. Prefer Commvault.
h. Experience supporting infrastructure at remote locations.
i. 5 years of experience with blade and physical servers. Prefer Dell technology.
a. Participate in on call 24x7
b. Resolve incidents through incident management and problem management processes
c. Follow core business processes such as change & release management, risk management, and user provisioning management.
d. Serve as a technical resource for infrastructure-related projects.
Must have experience:
a. Depth with windows server 2003 and window server 2008
b. Knowledge & experience using virtualization
c. Experience with Citrix
d. Experience with Active Directory systems and services such as DHCP, DNS
a. Recent technical certifications strongly preferred, including MCITP, MCSE, MCSD, etc.
b. Relevant degree (computer science, information systems, or engineering). Advanced degree strongly preferred
