MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare assessment and surcharge returns and other related filings for various ACE companies. Allocating payments and recording payments and deposits as outlined in our internal processing procedures. Complete monthly, quarterly and annual filings to reporting organizations based on data extracts from various ACE systems accurately and timely.
  • Review and understand statutes and reporting guidelines to validate proper completion of Data Calls, reports and/or payment requests.
  • Ensure all assessment basis’ are correct and verified with ACE records.
  • Prepare proper allocation of such expenses to various ACE divisions.
  • Handle correspondence with various regulatory and tax authorities including: dispute resolution, clarification of surcharge/assessment matters, preparation and coordination of appropriate supporting documentation
  • Assist manager with any special projects that may arise. This includes, but is not limited to; audit reviews and documentation preparation, internal and/or external communications, reporting issues, and ad-hoc report preparation.
  • Interface with other ACE departments and state and local insurance departments as necessary.
  • Prepare journal entrees in PeopleSoft and subledger balances as needed. Ensure journal entrees are accurate, supported and have proper authorization.
  • Complete detail reconciliations of surcharges account balances and provide recommendations to improve the process. Work with OGC and business units when needed to resolve any issues that are identified. Make recommendations on actions that are needed and accumulate surcharge account balances to facilitate a high level aggregated analysis for the quarterly reconciliation.
  • Assist manager with any special projects that may arise. This includes, but is not limited to; audit reviews and documentation preparation, internal and/or external communications, reporting issues, and ad-hoc report preparation.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The position reports to Vice President of the Operations Assessment Unit.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance.
  • Previous experience in completing analysis, planning and making recommendations based on results.
  • Excellent computer skills with an ability to learn accounting and insurance policy software.
  • Must be detail oriented while able to analyze data in a complex environment, with numerous interconnect flows of information.
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline oriented environment on multiple tasks
  • Excellent Excel knowledge and ability
  • Superb ability to interpret and comprehend statutes and guidelines issued by various states and bureaus.
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance operations and regulatory reporting.
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial.
  • Strong knowledge of ACCESS.
