The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for managing the team's relationships business partners, which includes:
  • Understanding the perspective they bring to our relationship, and then developing a messaging framework tailored to resonate with their perspective; making our interactions with them more meaningful
  • Communicating the value our team brings to their organization - a partnership with our team in leveraging technology to make their business operations more efficient and effective.
  • Partnering with them to align technology projects in the 1 to 5 year range with the strategic objectives of their organizations
  • Influencing project scope decisions to ensure projects remain on schedule and in alignment with core objectives
Key functional responsibilities include:
  • Executing the core business analysis tasks for multiple technology projects:
oFacilitating requirements gathering sessions
oDocumenting business requirements according to a propriety NYL methodology founded in BPMN standards
oCommunicating business requirements to the Applications Development Team
oManaging the design issue/resolution process
oAdvising the QA Testing Team on test scenarios and planning
oWorking with impacted business areas to develop communications for new operating procedures
  • Working with less tenured business analysts to help them hone their requirements elicitation and communication techniques
  • Identifying and incorporating functional best practices to continually refine internal work processes
  • 6 to 10 years of Business Analysis experience, Life Insurance and/or Annuity experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams on large technology efforts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand business processes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large scale process change efforts
  • Ability to set and reset priorities based on knowledge of business partners technology roadmaps and key strategies
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working on multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Experience with MS Office suite, in particular EXCEL, VISIO and WORD
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or related field
  • Professional experience in Life Underwriting (line, operations or technology experience)
  • Experience in Process Modeling, documenting workflow using standard Business Process Management Notation
  • Experience with Web Design and/or Database Applications
