Summary of the Position:

The Senior Business Planning Analyst performs a vital role in analyzing, evaluating, and recommending in support of the business planning of USP as well as conducting business analytics to support tactical decision making. The Senior Business Planning Analyst will support USP executive leadership in performing analyses related to the evaluation of opportunities for business growth and development, product-market growth and development, shifting channels of distribution, and increasing dissemination of standards. The position will also be responsible for developing the business and project plans associated with identified opportunities, building support for them, monitoring their execution and implementation, and reporting on the status to management.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide clear, thorough, accurate, and consistent analysis: market trends, key players, product performance, competitive context, market opportunities, and potential risks. These analyses are used by USP senior management to support decision making
  • Conduct in-depth product-market analysis to support new product development, marketing activities, and evaluation of existing products and markets
  • Conduct and/or assist with analytics projects. These projects will fall into one of five project categories: 1) industry shaping, 2) new product-market directions, 3) channels of distribution or dissemination, 4) strategic partnerships, and 5) planning & prioritization
  • Evaluate and recommend opportunities for new project and programs to move USP forward as a global public health company. These recommendations can be as specific as individual new product recommendations in support of documentary standards development to strategic partnership agreements
  • Conduct analyses on key performance indicators across all USP operations to support monitoring of performance against all plans to provide directions to the senior leadership for making improvements
  • Create and implement robust business and analytics plans that use clear information and analysis to improve USP’s capability to deliver on the promise of improving public health through development of public standards
  • Build and foster the relationships necessary within USP (including internationally) to collect the information required for the development and delivery of the plans
  • Perform ad hoc analysis of customers, markets, and regions to answer specific management inquiries
  • Take complex data and distill it into relevant information, documents and/or presentations for multiple-levels of leadership audiences, including the executive team
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience Education

Bachelor’s degree in science, economics, business or similar field of study required. MBA or other relevant Master’s degree desired


Minimum 3 years of related experience in a business to business company. Prior work experience with business analytics highly desired (e.g., not IT Business Analysis). Experience in science field highly desired. Experience in evaluating trends and concepts required. An equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute
