The Senior Coding Speciailist (Inpatient) position is responsible for assigning inpatient diagnostic and procedure codes to records of patients and coordinates the follow-up on deficient/delinquent discharge records.
Must have previous experience with high-volume inpatient coding in an acute care hospital setting, working with multiple payors including Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Insurance.
Education/Experience Requirements:
· Six years coding experience preferred; certification/registry (listed below) accepted in lieu of experience
· CCS, RHIT or RHIA certication strongly preferred
· Must know governmental and commercial billing guidlines, practices and procedures
· Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations
