Description About the Position

In this role, you will drive product strategy for your services and will lead the matrix team responsible for delivering these service lines. Your focus will be to work with the VP of Product Management to develop a compelling technology vision for your service and to execute, measure, and adjust the strategy accordingly. You will have to build effective Go To Market models for newly launched services, leveraging direct sales as well as channel partners. You must have business development experience and be comfortable owning P&L responsibilities for your service line. You would use client input, market knowledge, and experience to define product requirements for services that will be highly competitive in the market and can be delivered efficiently through our Managed Recovery Services teams.

To be successful in this role formal training and knowledge of the Stage/Gate product development process is highly desired. In addition, you should have knowledge and experience developing Market Requirements Documents and Product\Service Requirement Documents\Business Development.

You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with an engineering counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.


Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers

Develop and maintain value-based pricing framework for your product offering

Build and execute GTM models

Lead efforts to increase revenue and profits or reduce costs associated products, and develop product forecasts, pricing, and operational model

Track and maintain performance metrics for new product and service launches. Proactively manage sales pipeline for you product and ensure they hit budget targets

Develop and maintain value-based pricing framework for your product offering

Lead strategic projects for the line of business

Develop and maintain detailed program management and drive cross functional team to deliver agree upon results.

Managing the product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities for Recovery Services, partnering with Engineering for infrastructure augmentation and capacity management

Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning

Work with Product Marketing to maintain and provide content for product related collateral and sales tools

Participate in various Sales Support activities, including: product and services training, seminars and documentation, and pre and post sales customer visit

Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product gaps

Develop and maintain channel, delivery, and technology partner relationships

Supervise and develop a team of Product Specialists, Program Managers and Product Managers that will drive the strategic projects and the day-to-day activities.

Requirements and Preferred Requirements

Business development/sales experience for ramping up sale of new products/services

7 to 10 years experience in product management and lifecycle maintenance, sales support, or technical services role (This should include knowledge or experience with Stage\Gate process)

Successful track record of managing P&L

Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills to effectively supervise projects to completion

Ability to effectively work in a team environment as well as independently

Track record in hosting, data center outsourcing, ASP, hardware/software or similar technical industry. Understanding of product differentiation and competitive strategy techniques preferred

Possess the ability to work with customers and vendors at both a business & technical level

Extensive knowledge of solution engineering and design techniques as well as enterprise in Managed Services / Recovery Services

Excellent aptitude for financial information and analysis

Experience in relative product capability (e.g, Networking, Virtualization)

High-level technical knowledge and experience with enterprise monitoring and management products and architecture

Strong speaking and presentation skills

Verbal & written communications skills that meet the SunGard Corporate standard including customer service


Advanced Degree preferred. Will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience. A minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
