Identify, develop, coordinate and implement procedures, programs and practices to assure SWN's compliance with environmental regulations, to reduce company environmental risk and liability, and to minimize any negative impacts to the environment from company operations. Act as SWN’s technical representative or liaison to governmental agencies, and for consultants or contractors providing service to the company. Consult, advise or direct activities on broad range of air, water, waste, and land management issues for routine/ongoing operations as well as regional projects, corporate or business development initiatives, or new acquisitions, special projects for the company. Integral role in company’s emergency response structure for incidents with any environmental impacts.
Provide environmental advice, assistance, and support to Engineering, Operations, Construction, Land and Legal departments. Oversee regulatory operating compliance and permitting, develop or recommend procedures, provide guidance and relevant written resources or support materials. Regulatory areas of expertise/familiarity include all aspects of permitting pipeline ROWs, compression, and other land uses for gas and oil activities. Relevant experience in the North-East part of the United States (PA in particular) is a pre-requisite for this position.
Track compliance and regulatory concerns for the PA-DEP and the USACOE. Review and interpret new and existing regulations or industry efforts and develop Company responses to them as required.
Create, update and maintain various environmental compliance documents, contract specifications, technical resource documents, and manuals.
Assist in development of company environmental mitigation sites.
Develop and coordinate SWN's environmental awareness initiatives, training programs, and ongoing outreach efforts, materials and resources.
Coordinate and direct preparation, implementation and follow-up for environmental audits of Operations, other Company segments or due diligence reviews for acquisitions.
Support and assist Company emergency response efforts; advise on and direct remedial actions, technologies and regulations. Assist with post-leak monitoring and remediation projects, develop appropriate sampling procedures, assist document preparation and agency oversight. Obtain necessary training and/or certificates.
Minimum of a 4-year degree, Masters degree in environmental, physical or biological sciences, engineering or related field.
