The Sr. Buyer – Equipment will Purchase equipment for Delaware North Companies' operating subsidiaries, coordinating with unit management, subsidiary operations management, facilities project managers, food service consultants, installers, sales representatives and factory direct suppliers.
Interface directly with day to day unit operations and suppliers to provide assistance in sourcing correct specifications and options for equipment, furniture and other non-food items. Ensures that selections conform to existing site conditions, budget requirements, price competitiveness, item availability, and capabilities of supplier.
Responsible for carrying out and supporting procedures, programs, and quality standards governing the purchase of food service equipment, furniture, fixtures, smallwares and other non-food categories, in accordance with Delaware North Companies equipment specifications and Supply Management Services established national program agreements.
Supports procedures for capital authorization approval process (CAPP) for all PmWeb software users, in order to obtain approval for capital purchases and track project costs. Reviews records of purchases made against supplier acknowledgments and invoices and coordinates timely resolution of variances.
Maintains updated records on purchases, approves final payments, and performs project related cost analysis throughout project including close out.
Oversee expediting process to ensure that equipment ordered is shipped and delivered on schedule, meets quality standards and is fully operational.
Coordinate timely resolution of order discrepancies with suppliers. Coordinates new equipment start-up, training and demos.
Collaborate on areas of improvement for utilization of current PmWeb, PO Tracking and Auto Quotes systems.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Five years experience in purchasing food service equipment.
Two years’ estimating, blue print reading, and interpreting specifications is required.
Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, interpret equipment layout plans and manufacturer specifications, in addition to reading mechanical drawings in order to verify utility requirements.
Experience and knowledge working with major foodservice equipment manufacturers is a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing procedures, best practices and applicable skills in negotiating terms, conditions and pricing, as well as understanding how to derive additional value from productive supplier relationship.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Excel &Word and Windows required.
