Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Sr. Field Technician for the South Texas Tech Operations Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
The Sr. Field Technician is a technical position that requires a strong familiarity with basic networking and telecommunications concepts. This position is responsible for supporting all product offerings within MDU properties, and providing superior technical support to ensure a positive customer experience at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs technical maintenance by climbing poles, ladders or other structures, lifting and carrying loads up to 75 lbs., and works within limited confines, such as crawl spaces.
Maintain network monitoring and system performance tools, techniques, policies and procedures.
Configure service and support all routing and switching equipment necessary for the delivery of Metro Ethernet services.
Troubleshoots and resolves critical network and system issues.
Responds to technical support tickets that are generated from the network operations center.
Assists with basic installations and troubleshooting of fiber optic data and carrier services including switches
Troubleshoot, install and maintain advanced Channel Insertion systems and Radiant Servers for Bulk or MDU properties
Surveying of new Wireless Bulk and established MDU properties
Fiber Network configuration of Advanced systems in a Commercial setting
As part of an on-call/standby rotation, respond to afterhours call-out for service restoration, troubleshooting, network testing and repair of all necessary equipment
Responsible for support of new products as they are launched.
Mentors and trains other operations personnel in key elements of networking systems and provides technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals.
Perform preventive maintenance procedures.
Proficiently perform the duties of a Field Technician 2 or above, to include Installation and Service Call work orders.
Must be able to work in team environment, ability to perform above expectations at all times, sharp focus on meeting department and company goals, while complying with company standards and procedures.
Proficiency with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Visio preferred.
Demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of equipment implementation .
Must be able to handle high priority and major MDU residential accounts requests where response quality and timeliness is critical.
Must be able to work flexible hours and be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays.
High school diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of LAN/WAN applications, protocols, and hardware preferred including Cisco IOS, RIP, EIGRP
Must be Field Tech III or higher.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
Must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
Computer/networking certifications such as A+, N+, or CCNA preferred.
Preferred - 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or equivalent job experience
Preferred - Cisco Certified Network Professional and/or equivalent certifications
