Sr. Industrial Engineer
As a Senior Industrial Engineer your challenge will be to apply your technical skills and experience to support changing and increasing production responsibilities including the ongoing transition to LED technology.
Equally important, you will be the primary change agent to build on LEAN initiatives already in place to bring about the full implementation of LEAN in a fast-paced environment that is undergoing significant change.
You may be called upon to mentor and support other industrial engineers who are less experienced as well as working with a cross-functional team of professionals dedicated to our becoming a world class operation.
You will be challenged to use all of your skills and creativity to provide innovative approaches to solve problems and play a significant role implementing programs to enable us to achieve the corporate mandate for San Marcos to be a Center of Excellence for Philips.
Frankly the job will not be easy and isn’t for the average Industrial Engineer.

The Senior Industrial Engineer is a Lean Champion and Change Agent for coordinating all Lean activities including value stream mapping, Kaizen events, 5S, cell assembly and Lean Training.
The incumbent will plan, design and develop, and coordinate medium complex engineering projects as well as be accountable for meeting operational and cost-efficiency objectives by recommending engineering enhancements and changes to complement business goals.
As a component within the LEAD Transformation Program you will play a critical role in transforming the factory to add value, eliminate waste and facilitate product flow.
Other key responsibilities include:
Engineering projects as described above.
Projects may include, but not limited to, engines, equipment process, raw material and finished product quality, etc.
Evaluates current engineering standards on a regular basis to determine and recommend future engineering needs.
May directly assist Sr. Engineering Manager in the high-scale and high-complexity projects by performing a variety of preliminary analysis, evaluate and recommend engineering process, coordinate and schedule project segments while maintaining budgetary restraints.
Value stream mapping and gap closure.
Establishes processes to ensure knowledge sharing across units.
Evaluate and prepare Lean Training Plans as well as training and coaching line management.
Define, coordinate, implement and certify self-directed work teams.
Philips San Marcos is one of the primary locations for the design and production of Outdoor Professional Luminaires and has a large R&D Engineering function that are working on and introducing cutting edge products.
The Sr. Industrial Engineer will report directly to the Sr. Manufacturing Manager, who heads a team of Operations engineers including Industrial Engineers (IE) Product Support Engineers (PSE), and Manufacturing Engineers (ME). All are part of a function known as San Marcos Operations (SMOPS). SMOPS is accountable for the production of several Philips brands of professional luminaires many of which are also designed by the San Marcos Research & Development Engineering function. There is close interaction between all SMOPS functions including Planning, Procurement, Quality, Paint & Fab and Assembly as well as with the R&D team in San Marcos.

B.S. Degree in Engineering required.
4-8 years of demonstrated engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Black Belt with strong knowledge & skills relative to Lean principles and practices required.
Superior analytical/problem solving.
Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong project management skills required.
