Intellectual Ventures is seeking a highly skilled, motivated and experienced Global Licensing, Field Marketing Senior Manager. In this role you will be part of a dynamic team that has high executive visibility and the opportunity to impact the success of the business. This position is responsible for driving demand for Intellectual Ventures’ patent licensing services through field programs to meet or exceed revenue goals. This is a hands-on position for an individual who wants to directly develop and drive programs that move prospects through the sales cycle and build customer relationships.

Our ideal candidate has 8-10 years of experience in sales and marketing communications. He/she must be self-motivated and have a proven track record of delivering results for internal business partners. Critical to success is a skill for juggling multiple priorities; collaborating with a variety of stakeholders; and skillfully building consensus.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the development, delivery, and management of the Global Licensing (GL) Marketing Strategy
  • Lead and execute a variety of GL marketing projects across the organization
  • Take ownership of field programs and budget from inception to end results: understand field needs, define program and success measurement, ensure alignment with business objectives, and deliver all aspects of the program
  • Manage, update and disseminate key marketing messages and collateral amongst internal and external audiences
  • Develop and drive execution of outbound marketing programs
    • Identify key influencers and opinion leaders that advise IV’s customers, being sure to remember that many of IV’s customers may not be American companies
    • Develop and execute a campaign to educate identified opinion leaders on the IV Customer Value Proposition (CVP)
    • Establish and maintain relationships and communications with key influencers to ensure that they understand IV’s CVP, and appropriately represent it in the marketplace
  • Develop and implement compelling outbound marketing plans for IV licensing programs and value-added solution products:
    • Analyze customer research, market conditions, and competitor information to drive insights on how to best position IV/GL business
    • Maintain and refresh IV playbook/pitchbook and all customer-facing marketing collateral, presentations and GL website pages and intranet pages
    • Develop new collateral for customer engagements actively working with Licensing teams and Corporate Communications
    • Manage the GL conference calendar, proactively seek speaking engagements for key IV thought leaders/brand ambassadors, and develop presentation materials
    • Work with sales/business development and client engagement teams to design and review customer-specific engagement materials; Integrate customer and sales team feedback into material
    • Coordinate event venues, speakers, logistics, surveys, operations, and lead flow
  • Work with functional groups across IV, including:
    • Corporate Communications to ensure GL messaging is consistent across website, intranet, social networks and collateral:
      • Write and edit content for a variety of media including case studies, social media, blog posts, intranets and websites
      • Work with international team members to deliver localized activity and content where relevant
    • Finance team to ensure appropriate investor communication materials are integrated into outbound communications for Investors
    • Market Intelligence Group to maintain competitive intelligence database on key IP aggregators and other participants in the Invention Capital ecosystem; Participate in efforts to better understand their strategy, tactics and offerings; Aggregate and disseminate key competitive information to enhance outbound marketing efforts
Key Qualifications and Required Skills:
  • 8-10 years of enterprise marketing experience, field marketing background required
  • Proven track record of successfully partnering with sales and business development executive
  • Experience with developing integrated, multi-touch marketing plans
  • Training and experience in market analysis and broader market development concepts; proven success in designing, managing and executing effective marketing programs
  • Experience with industry C-level events for enterprise customers; account-based marketing experience a plus
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated, innovative, collaborative, resourceful, creative and analytical
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment is extremely important
  • Strong organizational agility, credibility, and collaborative working style
  • Skilled in translating research and ideas into clear, powerful insights
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure and deadlines with acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic environments
  • Proven budget management expertise
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills—able to construct and communicate compelling stories; great sense of use of imagery and style, strong executive presence
  • Demonstrated academic excellence, a Bachelors degree is required; prior experience with marketing of intellectual property/patents is preferred
  • Experience with advanced Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and sales and marketing automation systems (i.e., salesforce.com)
  • The position will report to the Vice President of Global Licensing
  • Travel up to 10-15%
