General Summary:

Responsible for overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources Department; provide direction and guidance to the Sections of Human Resources (HR Management and Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, & HRIS) and Training (Training and Organizational Development), ensuring company objectives are pursued and policies are followed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES ( including but not limited to accountabilities below):
  • Promote the Kia Way within the HR and Training sections (positive morale, harmony, teamwork, trust, and a “can do” mindset and passion to create value)
  • Serve as HOD (Head of Department) for the Human Resources and Training sections, providing guidance and support for human resources issues
  • Maintain current knowledge of sensitive activities and issues within KMMG
  • Establish effective working relationships with individuals throughout the company
  • Support the KMMG Business Plan to be the best and most innovative automotive company in the world
  • Lead and support initiatives to obtain/maintain ISO TS19649 certification
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing HR programs and functions
  • Oversee problems with benchmarking; provides guidance and recommendations for problem resolution
  • Execute and implement departmental goals and objectives and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Provide advice and counsel to management regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws
  • Develop and oversee an effective recruitment program, including hiring of salaried team members and shift hiring for production; successfully implement KMMG’s Hiring Plan
  • Manage hiring of temporary team members for production as well as administrative needs
  • Develop and maintain affirmative action data; responsible for annual EEO-1 filings with Department of Labor
  • Recommend, evaluate, and participate in staff development programs such as Career Opportunity Program for team members
  • Maintain relationship with outsourcing vendors who provide team member services, such as relocation programs, team member benefits, etc.
  • Coordinate benefit programs including health and medical, dental, pharmacy, vision, life, 401(k), etc.
  • Manage reviews of hourly wages and salaries to ensure KMMG has competitive compensation plans
  • Administer performance review program and salary administration to ensure effectiveness and equity within KMMG
  • Direct classification plans and programs and coordinate preparation of job descriptions
  • Responsible for managing the budget and Annual Business Plan of the HR and Training sections and providing directives for cost saving initiatives
  • Establishes and maintains human resources planning, control, and reporting activities
  • Review and make recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation
  • Ensure human resources system (SAP) meets needs of team members within HR & Administration Sub-division, including executive management information needs

QUALIFICATIONS and JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Competencies):
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related area along with ten (15) plus years of progressive experience in the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and handle stress
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over an 18 – 24 month time span
  • Ability to interact confidently with team members, managers, executives, and members of the community
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships in cross-cultural environment with team members at all levels of the company

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
  • Experience working with word processor, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications and/or software
  • Professional Certification (e.g., SPHR, CCP) in Human Resources preferred
