Sr. Manager Business Analytics

Job Summary:

YP is building next-generation advertising products and is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager of Retention Analytics to bring data-driven clarity to the overarching retention efforts at YP. This role will drive increased understanding of and improvement to key factors that drive YP’s ability to retain customer spending from year to year. This is the perfect opportunity for somebody who enjoys a fast-paced environment, exhibits a strong bias for action, and enjoys developing an understanding of data, using that understanding to crystalize the organization’s conception of key drivers influencing results, and leveraging information to improve performance.

Job Details:

The Sr. Manager - Retention Analytics will:

• Define and continually refine appropriate performance measures for the Retention function – including core outcomes, operational processes affecting results, and campaign performance assessments
• Develop and produce reports to monitor retention effectiveness across a broad range of parameters (i.e. “Save” teams, structured campaigns, customer triage, etc.)
• Access multiple data sources to capture and synthesize relevant data elements
• Create and automate reporting capabilities around identified measures
• Define and implement improved data collection, storage, and access methodologies (systems & processes) to analyze retention efforts and streamline YP’s ability to critically monitor retention efforts

• Use analytical skills to critically assess retention performance and help guide the team in the crafting and developing improved approaches
• Identify improvement opportunities and advocate for beneficial enhancements to Retention efforts
• Particular attention to identifying and exploiting differential performance characteristics among channels and customer segments leveraging advanced statistical team capabilities for correlation and causation analysis
• Serve as a leader to and liaison for an advanced statistical analysis team

• Work with cross-functional teams on high priority initiatives for the CRO and Retention Office as part of the YP Customer Retention team to develop solutions and drive implementation
• Undertake ad-hoc research / analysis projects to uncover key information, distill findings, and make & present compelling cases for business process changes, marketing approach changes, or resource allocation changes
• Gather & analyse data through quantitative and qualitative mechanisms to provide insight for decisions on critical strategic issues
• Develop a thorough understanding of YP customers, YP’s relation to their business and results, in particular how those YP solutions create customer value

• The nature of the role will be dynamic and the selected candidate will need to bring a keen intellect to bear on a wide variety of problems (and the specific problems attacked may vary widely over time)

Candidate Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Proficient with BI toolsets - Business Objects, SQL-Based GUI tools, PowerPivot, etc.
• Working knowledge of statistical analytical methods – regression models, CHAID, data mining techniques, etc.
• Creative problem-solving skills and a strategic perspective
• Self-motivated, superior communication skills, and strong team player
• 3 – 5 (plus) years’ experience in analysis roles producing actionable intelligence from raw data
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or a related field of study

Desired Qualifications:

• MBA strongly preferred
• 3 – 5 (plus) years’ experience financial-oriented / statistical modelling
• Experience performing analysis on marketing or retention functions
• Experience using MS Access as a data repository
• Experience working in a retention function
• Experience with YP’s data systems and tools

Excellent proven analytical and problem solving skills

• Expert level skill with Excel necessary for success
• Expertise in range of MS Office tools
• Solid understanding of relational database design, technical ability to access data, organize it, and develop meaningful reporting
• Database systems / BI tools (Access, SQL, Business Object, PowerPivot, etc.)
• SQL / GUI-based querying experience needed to access data to fulfil expectations

• Ability to creatively source data and work through multiple channels to secure results

• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast paced team environment where change is constant and timelines are often short
• Ability to work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance business needs against technical constraints
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication / presentation skills required
• Ability to confidently deliver information to senior leadership team and other large audiences
• The ability to interact comfortably and persuasively with senior executives including presentation, influence, and facilitation skills
• Negotiation, leadership and persuasion skills

• Ability to anticipate emerging business needs to build an ever increasing understanding of the true factors driving customer retention
• Capacity to frame and break down complex business problems into key components and recommend practical solutions to drive results
