Over the last 11 years, Blackhawk has made it very easy for consumers to buy gift cards in a majority of US and worldwide retailers. In the last few years, Blackhawk has added other prepaid categories to its successful network including but not limited to prepaid phones, prepaid wireless, and prepaid reloadable debit cards. Blackhawk has also expanded distribution to major online retailers including Amazon, ebay and giftcardmall.com.
Now Blackhawk is adding a unique consumer oriented prepaid service to its products making it just as easy to use a gift card as it is to buy a gift card called GoWallet. GoWallet will be a consumer facing prepaid service and a b2b API that other wallets can integrate into their own service. In addition to gowallet, Blackhawk is also adding another new service - a gift card exchange service that runs online and in store (malls, BHN network and new locations like ACE check cashing). Both of these services will have significant in store (with DP and CP partners) and out of store marketing challenges and execution. Online marketing for GoWallet and CardPool will be handled in the business group but the retail marketing will be managed within the marketing organization: retail GoWallet and CardZone.
BHN is looking for a talented, dynamic retail marketing expert to help drive in and out of store (not online but out of store media) efforts for each of these two businesses (GoWallet and CardZone). This senior manager must have significant retail experience and experience dealing with grocery retailers is a plus. This person will report to the CMO at this time but may in the future report to a senior Director/VP of retail. Other new projects will be added to this person as bandwidth is available. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate will also have a seat at the table and develop strong relationships across various organizations internally and externally.
This position will report to our Chief Marketing Officer at Blackhawk Network but will work closely with the business and the online marketing person for GoWallet. This person will be responsible for developing retail communication strategy for new initiatives at BHN and then coordinate this strategy with the online business. The ideal candidate will work well in a matrix organization and have the ability to manage through influence and collaboration. The candidate should have extensive retail marketing experience. This person must be a strong executer as they will have to implement the strategic plans and work with internal resources to make sure we meet objectives and budget.
The right candidate will be an “out-of-the box” creative thinker with superior communications skills and a great track record developing and executing programs in retail. The team moves incredibly fast and needs a team member that can work in a fast-paced environment, be solution and detail oriented and is a doer who is able to roll up their sleeves and get the work done. A track record in marketing complex programs is critical with great attention to detail to analysis is required.
