Position Objective:
Work in a team based environment to manufacture research and commercial products that are scientific in nature for use in the life sciences industry. Implement production and large scale manufacturing procedures to optimize processes and meet regulatory requirements. Actively participate and contribute to New Product Introduction, process improvement and team management.

Essential Functions:
Perform quality control test of raw material, in-process material, and tissue culture medium/ reagents
Follow Standard Operating Procedures; perform routine tasks accurately and efficiently
Apply good documentation practices consistently. Note variances on standard operating procedures
Culture and maintain cells using aseptic technique
Assess cell morphology
Operate manual and automated laboratory equipment.
Perform simple to complex mathematical calculations routinely (e.g. viability, concentration and density)
Record information accurately into various electronic databases (e.g. raw and calculated data, inventory transfers, routing hours)
Maintain related instruments, spreadsheets and databases and ensure that all supporting tasks are completed within the lab.
Assist in Initiating problem reporting (deviations, non-conformances, failures) and performing root cause investigation.
Communicate effectively within work group to ensure expectations, progress, and results are clearly understood.
Must be able to work well within a team with diversified background
Perform miscellaneous / other duties as assigned
Follows Life Technologies policies and safety guidelines

Nature and Scope:
Effectiveness in this role requires basic understanding of quality system and quality control in a production environment as well as functional knowledge of cell culture, aseptic techniques, cryopreservation processes, material management, media and reagent preparation, and good documentation practices (GDP) in an ISO certified environment. The job encounters recurring work situations of a routine nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; errors in work could cause delays in schedules and release of non conforming product.

Bachelor degree or equivalent knowledge in Biology related field

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience,
  • Cell/tissue culture experience and aseptic techniques required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as on teams in an industrial laboratory environment..
  • Proven ability to consistently and independently follow policies and procedures; written and verbal instruction, and to meet schedules required.
  • Working knowledge of business computer software with logistics related databases desired.
Has contact with multiple levels of company employees and may have contact with external vendors.

Working Conditions:
Works in a laboratory environment.. May work in a standing and/or sitting position for extended periods of time. May handle potentially hazardous materials (chemical, biological).and or temperature extreme materials (dry ice and liquid nitrogen).
