SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGNER
The Senior Mechanical Designer will support the design and development of system packaging concepts for current and future products. The Senior Mechanical Designer has responsibility for component packaging and system layout and will create system assembly models and detailed part drawings. Knowledge of Pro Engineer Wildfire / Creo and GD&T to ANSI Y14.5M-2009 is required. This role requires close interaction with the engineering and design team to ensure efforts are coordinated. The role also requires close interaction with the supply chain, quality, manufacturing and service teams to ensure designs meet cross functional requirements. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple assignments and willing to learn and adapt in a fast paced product engineering organization.
Develop system packaging for a mid to high volume production environment.
Work with engineers to create multiple design concepts to solve design challenges.
Lead design projects from concept stage to volume production.
Must have working knowledge of Pro Engineer Wildfire / Creo software, large assembly management and ASME 14.5M-2009 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing specifications.
Perform tolerance analysis such as stack-up and fixed / floating fastener analysis.
Design parts using sheet metal, investment casting and injection and compression molding.
Work with operations team to qualify new production parts and resolve manufacturing and process issues as required.
Lead cross functional design reviews.
Flexibility and the ability to meet strict requirements to tight schedule.
Work efficiently in both a self directed and team environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to clearly communicate goals, findings, and issues.
Ability to work in a fast passed, rapidly changing environment.
Experience with Design for Cost / Assembly / Manufacturability / Performance.
Experience with piping layout, design and routing.
Experience with a structured Engineering Change Process and Procedures.
Familiarity with Pro Intralink / Windchill is desirable.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
AS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent OTJ training required.
5 – 10 years of work experience preferred.
