HOK's Houston office is looking for motivated individuals who are willing to take on responsibility and grow with our design team. The Senior Mechanical Designer will be based in Houston and work directly with the engineering team in numerous phases of the project. This position provides design production support services to the project team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, modifies and/or reviews drawings of engineering systems or components according to established standards.

Develops engineering systems designs based on input from the project engineer and/or the project designer.

Picks up red marks from the project engineer and/or the project designer.

Organizes and maintains documents for specific projects.

Works closely with project team and assists to complete projects on aggressive schedules.

Prepares and generates drawings and notes from rough or detailed sketches or annotated drawings in a complete and accurate manner, utilizing prescribed methods, standard practices and CADD techniques.

Prepares drawings and notes and generates final plots in a clear, complete, and accurate manner.

Checks input data, plots, and final drawings and diagrams for installation clearances and relationships of the various parts to the whole and to one another.

Performs calculations for use in determining equipment selection and applies design and drafting experience to enhance drafting ability.

Utilizes knowledge and experience in applying drafting principles for complete and accurate drawings.

Produces drawing charts for schedules and data making changes and adjustments as necessary.

Actively seeks new knowledge related to mechanical engineering practices, principles and regulations changes.

Required Skills

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in the Mechanical Engineering, preferred.

Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

Basic knowledge of building regulations and safety codes.

Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.

Preferred previous internship at A/E firm.

Mental Requirements: reading, basic math skills, use of computer, interpreting visual and verbal directions, reading and interpreting drawings.
