Lead strategic and operational design for key vendor programs - including but not limited to the Vendor Performance, Live Animal and Regulatory Vendor Audits, Productivity (Return Goods and Sustainability), and Compliance. Lead execution of programs, including associated budgets and 3rd party relationships. Ensure that Vendor programs are clearly communicated to Petco's entire Vendor community, are consistently applied across vendors as well as Petco divisions and functional departments, and support overall business objectives of Petco, the Vendor Operations department, and cross-functional stakeholder groups. Liaison and drive collaboration with vendor partners and senior leadership to improve compliance to Petco standards and overall vendor program performance.

Develop a strategically integrated set of vendor programs and system of standards to ensure Petco business objectives are met and vendor performance, productivity and compliance is optimal; review and benchmark the internal and external environment with a spirit of continuous improvement; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and develop strategic vendor program priorities; and facilitate execution internally and externally across the vendor community (30%)
Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external key stakeholders; collect, analyze and integrate information from key stakeholders regarding business objectives; serve as liaison among stakeholders in developing and implementing standards that enable optimal performance for Petco and vendors; manage as primary Petco contact for vendor standards and performance (20%)
Review vendor community performance, identify trends and drive special vendor programs/projects, including but not limited to performance and productivity (Return Goods) improvement projects with select vendors, Live Animal and Regulatory Vendor Audits; propose new programs/projects, build sponsorship, gain resource commitments and drive the execution of results to enhance vendor performance to standards and meet Petco business objectives; mediate moderately to highly complex vendor disputes while developing/facilitating effective and efficient solutions that maintain/enhance the vendor/Petco relationship (30%)
Provide direction for and lead staff responsible for assigned areas; effectively accomplish assigned duties/tasks through the subordinate direct report team and through effective partnerships with cross-functional teams; direct, influence, and motivate others with the ability to flex style as the situation requires; collaborate or empower as needed (20%)
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and interact professionally at all times; communicate on a regular basis with Merchandising, Store Operations, Inventory Management, Logistics, Accounting, and other key stakeholders to ensure program success; this position requires regular interaction with Petco senior leadership as well as executives across Petco's vendor community
Day or overnight travel may be required periodically throughout the year.
This position will supervise at least two Senior Analysts and one Specialist/Analyst and may directly supervise one Vendor Operations Manager and oversee at least one 3rd party service provider. In addition this position will lead internal cross-functional work groups as well as external work groups including Petco vendors.
The majority of work duties are conducted while seated indoors, with little or no exposure to hazards. Some travel may be required on a limited basis.
A bachelor’s degree in business or related field and a minimum of 10+ years progressively responsible experience in vendor/supplier management, supply chain, project management or similar general management function including 5 years in a leadership role is required. Previous retail experience is strongly preferred. Direct experience with improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma as well as technical project management also preferred. Advanced computer skills are also required including MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio, statistical analysis tools, and project management software. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be substituted.
