Be a quality gate keeper and reliability expert working with R&D, factories, and suppliers to ensure components, assemblies, and final product meet Finisar’s high standard of quality and reliability.
Participate in architectural design reviews and engage with R&D on technical discussions regarding development of new products. Provide inputs and requirements to ensure new products are designed for reliability.
Develop/Review/Approve qualification plans for new products, variants, technologies, components, site transfers, and suppliers within schedules which may be constrained by business needs.
Direct engineer(s) and technician(s) to perform reliability tests and measurements, compile and analyze the data.
Present reliability results to various engineering groups and prepare internal and customer reports.
Interact with customers and suppliers to provide appropriate expertise on device and module reliability.
Participate in technical discussions and ensure that any reliability failures have solid failure analysis, root cause, and corrective actions to prevent any such reoccurring failures.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: MSc / PhD in Engineering, Quality or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in reliability engineering (10 years preferred).
Technical knowledge of optical modules, PCBA and optical assemblies, and devices required.
Knowledge of Telcordia and other performance and reliability standards required.
Reliability modeling and lifetime calculations preferred.
Leadership experience required to direct exempt and non-exempt employees and drive the qualification execution to meet strict deadlines with high data integrity.
Positive inter-personal skills necessary to support cross-functional teams.
Strong technical (written and verbal) communication skills required for customer and internal communications.
