Provides senior technical support for telephony (Mobile, Voice over IP and Land-line) and data communication services. Provides advanced technical escalation of internetworking issues, advanced design and top-tier engineering expertise. Evaluates, recommends, installs, and Mobile and Local Site Voice, Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) services with minimal or no supervision. Mentors and trains networking staff as necessary

Provides leadership in design and engineering of new systems, the optimization of applications and continued maintenace/support.
Works with other IT groups to ensure interoperability and performance for applications and infrastructure.
Evaluates, recommends and implements strategies for LAN/WAN hardware and software requirements and capabilities related to user needs.
Maintains a advanced knowledge in most areas of network and computer hardware/software interconnections and interfaces (such as routers, switches, voice gateways and servers, firewalls, etc.)
Formulates programming and configuration system changes to facilitate network system capability.
Monitors network usage and performance through network management tools.
Works closely with other departments/organizations and collaborates with other IT staff.
Establishes and documents standards for network architecture and plans; coordinates total network integration.
Provides training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
Undertakes routine preventative measures and implements, maintains and monitors network security, particularly if the network connects to the Internet.
Plans and implements future IT internetworking development and undertakes project management when necessary.
Ensures the most efficient use of equipment while continuing to find ways to cut expenses and operating costs.
May supervise and train other staff members, even outside of department.
Coordinates (communicates) all downtime and installations with on-site customers and staff.
Provides Quality Assurance for all documents, configurations, designs and Change Control technical assessments.
May act as a mentor or Technical Lead to Associate Network Engineers and Network Engineers.
Typically responsible for major site and internetworking system installations.
Provides escalated support for Associate Network Engineers and Network Engineers.
Responsible for internetworking equipment inventory, appropriate maintenance coverage and plans.
Maintains a primary responsibility for internetworking equipment procurement and vendor relationships.
Acts as primary for technical review and “sign-off” of Associate Network Engineer and Network Engineer designs, configurations and Purchase Orders/Check Requests.
Acts as the primary technical-lead on all major internetworking system outages.
Acts as the technical-lead liaison representing Networking and Telecommunications in other business forums.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%).
The Senior Network Engineer should have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related field, or have equivalent experience within the computing industry. They should have extensive experience with top-tier support of large enterprise telephony, data, and mobile communications. The Senior Network Engineer should have significant experience with telephony and data communication concepts. The Cisco CCNP certification is strongly preferred; CCVP and CCIE certifications are a plus. The Senior Network Engineer will take lead on major projects and areas of tactical focus for the team. The Senior Network Engineer should have 6-months minimal employment with INC Research prior to being eligible for this position.
The Senior Network Engineer must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to resolve major issues. They must also be able to communicate with other team members to cross-train on problem resolution. The Senior Network Engineer must be able to provide project leadership or work with project leaders in a technical leadership capacity to ensure success of projects. They should be attentive to detail, flexible, open to suggestions, and possess good communicative interpersonal skills. They must be able to work on multiple projects, each with specific requirements that may differ from project to project.
This is considered a senior-level internetworking position.
