We are currently in search for a Sr. Network Engineer to work at our client site in Washington, DC. This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

Position Description :
The candidate will provide support and maintenance for a medium-size enterprise- wide Microsoft Windows/Cisco infrastructure. Environment includes Cisco routers and switches; Windows Servers, Microsoft SQL Databases, HP Blade Servers, VMware vSphere 5.0, Dell Servers, Active Directory, Exchange/Outlook email, and EMC Storage.

The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be monitoring equipment, servers, applications, and remediating discovered problems, applying maintenance updates and patches to applications, operating systems, and hardware. Specific work performed under this requirement includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Monitor server performance, disk space, hardware, and inventory management.

Perform Operating System support and monitoring for servers across all program groups to include updates, patches, security risk mitigation, hardware/firmware fixes and updates, resources reservations, performance tuning.

Assist in the resolution of network support issues presented through our ticketing system including modifications of backend infrastructure. Attempt to remedy problems and notify program groups of issues.

Develop work plans, test plans for system upgrades and maintenance, and implementing such plans.

Open RMA requests and tech support calls with vendors.

Monitor network and application health and facilitating application issue resolution related to network functions.

Shipping and receiving network equipment.

Report generation, including but not limited to:
System availability, performance, capacity

User accounts, permissions, space used, account activity

Patching outcomes and status, patch testing, and patch implementation

Application support including specific support for client’s business applications such as SAS, eLaw, and others. Helps facilitate integration of business line apps into the client’s environment and can resolve tangential issues.

Tracking and updating, system updates, and maintenance in configuration management system.

Miscellaneous network operations related tasks.

Skills and Experience Required:
4-6 years’ experience in network administration support in a similarly complex environment

In depth experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory, Windows 7 and Vista

In depth experience with server hardware and blade technology

In depth experience monitoring servers and applications

In depth experience implementing network security protocols

Experience with backups and restores

Experience with scripting; VB, PowerShell, WMI

Knowledge of Virtualization such as VMware and Hyper V

Knowledge of Storage technology

Knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, switching and routing concepts, network printers, network devices, configuration and topology

Work experience in Tier 2 Help Desk Support using and automated system like FootPrints, Remedy or Heat

Strong customer service skills and attitude

Ability to work in a government environment with minimal direction and training

Excellent problem-solving/root-cause analysis skills

Collaborate with the client to resolve complex problems

Education/Training/Certifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

Microsoft MCITP certification a plus

Microsoft MCDBA certification a plus

Security Certification a plus

Cisco Certification a plus

VMware certification a plus
