Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Operations Engineer to work on the Operations Support team to help create non-Windows OS patch baselines and implement tools & processes to check against those baselines.

This individual will proactively review and be aware of patches, create a process of methodical review and application of patches/fixes in concert with our development teams. Red hat Satellite experience is highly recommended.

Technical support tasks within the Operations team will also be a big part of the job such as break/fix support and change implementation.

Late coverage for afterhours production change work, incident escalation, smoke tests, run audits, etc. Work on support tasks as assigned

Key Accountabilities:
Assist with the design of a patch/compliance controls framework which provides the greatest amount of coverage while remaining scalable and efficient.

Red hat Satellite experience is highly recommended.

Lead research, evaluation and implementation of patch management to applicable technical regulations, best practices and standards.

Continuously monitor the status of patches and upgrades across service offerings.

Define and execute periodic compliance audits.

Train and mentor peers on emerging technologies.

Work with operations and other teams to track and report on issues.

When not working on patch management tasks, assist with general trouble ticket queue.

Automate and optimize processes.

Respond to Operations incidents on rotation.

Skills Summary:
BA/BS Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

5+ years experience working with IT professionals providing technology support:

5+ years expert knowledge of Linux

3+ years Red hat Satellite implementation and operation.

3+ years relevant experience with establishing and implementing patch management tools and processes and using said tools and processes in a technology environment.

Intermediate experience with, Apache, Jboss, DataStage, Tomcat

Entry level experience with Oracle, DB2.

Three to five years of experience working with IT professionals in a support role.

Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model

Quick learner, excellent problem solving skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Experience with formal change management processes.

Ability to perform in high-stress, crisis situations.

Ability to develop productive rapport with cross-functional teams.

Ability to multi-task, juggling many different projects at different levels of development.

Adaptability in learning new development tools and technologies quickly.

Proven willingness and ability to be flexible, and to accept feedback from others.

Ability to clearly communicate to all levels of an organization in a professional and respectful manner.

Excellent collaboration and self-starter skills.

The ability to independently build and manage relationships with customers and partners.

Desirable Skills include:
Experience with Puppet deployment tool.

Hands on knowledge programming in HTML, XML, MySQL, LAMP

Experience with Confluence, Websphere, Weblogic, Storage systems (NAS, SAN, etc.), knowledge of Network appliances (firewalls, load balancers, proxy/cache servers), VMware and Citrix.

Internet / E-Commerce application development experience.
