The Sr. Operations Support Engineer (PSE) develops deep understanding of large-scale production environments (millions of users), and uses this knowledge to anticipate, identify, and solve operational problems before they happen. This position reports to the Asurion Mobile Applications (AMA) Senior Infrastructure Manager, and will work across both development and operational organizations. The position requires support experience in a production Web Application and middleware services in a J2EE environment, in addition to strong analytical and communication skills. Position is responsible for data analysis and report generation that includes system availability and performance. Experience with relational databases and JBoss Application Server are a plus. Ideal candidate will have at least 7+ years of experience.

  • Analyze large-scale production environments (millions of users), proactively identify potential system weaknesses, and put preventive/corrective measures in place
Investigate and assist in troubleshooting production environment issues. Provide 3rd Level support.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications/enhancements needed to provide complete solution.
  • Write technical procedures and documentation including operations, user guide, etc.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss progress and issues to be resolved, and report progress on a weekly basis to AMA Senior Infrastructure Manager.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
7+ years technology experience;

3-5 years support experience in a Java J2EE environment in a Linux OS environment or UNIX OS environment.

3+ years experience supporting a Spring Framework application environment.

3+ yeas experience supporting PostgreSQL or equivalent Relational Data Base

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

E

xperience in implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.

Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.

Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high-pressure, on-call environment with shifting priorities.

Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.

Excellent communication/written skills.

Degree in computer science or related field or a combination of related experience and education.

Experience supporting any of the following containers: JBoss Application Server, WebLogic, WebSphere.

Proficient in Perl scripting and Linux/Unix shell scripting
