-Plans, analyzes, designs, implements, maintains, and controls the organization's databases.
-Consults with and provides guidance to database users and client groups, often recommending tactical and strategic solutions.
-Performs moderately complex server-class database activities across various platforms and environments including one or more of the following:
Business requirement identification and analysis; conceptual, logical, and/or physical database design; data modeling and/or mapping; moderate to complex programming and coding to automate and/or support the database environment; performance monitoring and tuning; analyzing database metrics and assisting with capacity planning; planning, testing, configuration and execution of installations, upgrades and migrations; and implementing security controls.
- Leads, mentors and/or provides guidance to less experienced database analysts, where applicable, including guidance for troubleshooting escalated issues.
-May participate in the development of data/ database architectures and management policies, procedures and standards.
-May lead moderately complex projects.
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems
-5 to 8 years of experience in database support, design, and architecture, or a combination of equivalent education and work experience in supporting a 24x7 environment.
-Two or more years of experience in supporting Investment Banking environment.
-Work experience as an Oracle Database Administrator partnering with development teams and customers to gather requirements on projects and provide database design configurations and solutions that focus on performance and availability.
-Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency for highly time sensitive deliverables in a dynamic trading environment driven by financial markets.
-Take a lead role in implementation of database projects that require collaboration across various infrastructure teams and to integrate best practices and efficiencies into production environments while mitigating risk through testing and capacity planning.
-Analyze and identify database performance issues and bottlenecks, serve as escalation point for problem resolution, and drive recovery through root cause investigation.
-Oracle database design and implementation of high availability and recovery models; including setup, configuration, and monitoring of database recovery strategies such as replication, mirroring, and clustering.
-Oracle 11g RAC Active DataGuard experience.
Sybase to Oracle migration experience a big plus!
