Aspen Tech is looking for a Senior Manager of User Interface, User Experience, Workflow, & Usability Engineers to play an important role in the AspenTech design office. This individual will have the responsibility and accountability to achieve the unified, consistent, and highly intuitive look and feel for the entire Aspen Tech product suite.

This candidate’s attention to detail along with strong leadership and excellent communication skills will be critical for meeting hands-on and management deliverables.

The UI/UX Designer is responsible for the creation of all online visual design,
including typography, visual concept, logo and icon design for the product
suite and related interactive platforms. They effectively communicate and
coordinate with the information architect, writer and production artists to
ensure that the visual design communicates the desired message, and functions successfully for varying technical and performance specifications. The
candidate must be capable of leading the creative aspects of a project and have demonstrated strong business acumen.

Responsible for the underlying design, layout and structuring of sophisticated web-based applications. You will also design and develop interfaces that are optimized for both technical performance and, more importantly, user experience.
Assume a lead usability specialist position. Working closely with
team members from across the organization, as well as clients, you will play an

important role on:
Understanding user requirements and functional scope of
enterprise level web-based software applications
Establishing use-cases and typical user journeys through proposed software applications
Designing and developing storyboards for key user processes
Presenting use-cases, articulating workflows, creating storyboards and wireframes to project teams
Develop and Implement state of the art user interface and user experience design principles
Define the appropriate style guides by understanding the workflow of the overall system and periodically review to make sure the style guides are being followed.
Ensure user interface is simple, intuitive, and extremely user friendly
Implement process and procedures to achieve consistent look and feel across all products.
Frequent interaction with product managers and product development by understanding the schedule and deliver the required design artifacts on time
Must be able to up hold extreme high quality of intuitive user interface by not giving into schedule and time pressure.
Frequently review the work done by the UI/UX designer and validate the developed functionality, provide feedback, and follow-up to get the work done.
Ultimately responsible for the quality of UI/UX deliverables in the released products.
Work with team members from Burlington, MA, Houston, TX, and Shanghai, China.

Bachelors degree in computer media, human factors, graphics or similar.
Masters degree preferred but not required.
10+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and leading user interface and qualified Human Computer Interaction professionals.
The candidate must have strong writing, presentation, interpersonal and creative skills
Required skills include proficiency in illustration, a basic understanding of user interface principles, sensitivity to typography and color, a general awareness of materials/textures, and a practical grasp of physics and animation.
Experience in designing user friendly interfaces that “look” good - A solid understanding of user interface design patterns and user interaction mechanisms
The ability to understand end-users and the journeys they may take through sophisticated functionality
Must have the ability to create the proper components of the UI (widgets, panels, icons, buttons, etc.) for engineering to use in the development of UI
Ability to succefully work cross functionally across multiple deparments: product management, product development, marketing, advertising and other departments.
Proven ability to analyze and solve complex issues using artistic concepts and solutions.
Proven ability to prioritize and manage different tasks, and supervising, training, and mentoring other UI/UX professionals
Must be experienced in designing desktop, web, and mobile software applications that have high interactive needs between the user and the system
Must be strong in conceptual thinking, including online software concepts and online experience concepts
Must have demonstrated successful design and integration, ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, and the delivery of projects on time and within the given budget
Ability to work independently on strategic issues with client, capable of managing fairly complex projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven problem-solving skills
Full software lifecycle experience with a commercial product
Good inter-personal skills along with team spirit is a must
Experienced in team leadership
Proven history of working well in groups and with off-shore teams
Demonstrated ability to take on initiatives without frequent supervision or assistance
Knowledge in designing and developing Rich Internet Application (RIA) UIs in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for web and mobile systems besides the desktop systems.
Understanding of and experience in corporate branding, layout, color theory and typography in both print and digital media.
