Biomet, a leading manufacturer of orthopedic devices, is seeking a Sr. Spine Product Development Engineer to join its Parsippany, NJ office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

Design and testing of new products

Fulfillment of product realization requirements

Coordinate with project managers to foresee/understand critical project activities and to enable them to manage resources and tasks to avoid critical path slippage.

Partner with project team members outside of R&D to maintain engagement and focus on development commitments and dependencies.

Collaborate, solicit and incorporate inputs from global marketing, manufacturing, quality, intellectual property, technical services, sales and customers for the design and development of systems

Assist in maintenance of existing product lines

Assist in bringing to market projects as quickly as possible with the highest quality

Assist in developing project scope, estimate and plan development tasks, and schedule development milestones and develop a project plan per product realization requirements

Conduct design meetings to resolve issues and risks, maintain engagement and focus, and share updates with all team members.

Maintain development timelines with regular updates to the project manager and monitor critical path.

Develop and maintain corporate surgeon relationships

Support sales and marketing efforts

Assist with manufacturing, quality and regulatory related issues

Understands and upholds the compliance policies of the company

Assist in IP review

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university in an engineering curriculum.

Minimum of 5 years related experience, preferably within the medical device industry, preferably within the spine area

Strong Project Management skills

Previous CAD and project management experience is required.

Must have knowledge of various manufacturing processes.

Must possess the talent and drive necessary to thrive amid the daily challenges of a dynamic and demanding professional workplace.

Must have good communication skills.

Proficient or working toward proficiency in:
Computer Aided Design

Drafting

Mechanical Testing

Design for manufacturing

Tolerancing

Quality methods

Material selection

Fundamental Engineering Principles

Unigraphics or another 3-D solid modeling software
