Senior Rails Developer
Our client is seeking a motivated individual to join its software development team. While this is a Ruby on Rails position, the successful candidate will be well-rounded in various languages.
This is a full time position, outsourced or software development contractors should not apply.
Successful applicants must:
Have the grit and desire to finish and maintain projects; not just start them.
Be able to work on a team, independently when necessary, to escalate problems when appropriate, and to thrive in a successful small business environment.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Love coding Ruby.
Enjoy coding in Rails.
Be familiar with the basics of version control.
Feel like the code isn't finished if it isn't tested.
Enjoy talking about at least one: %w(beer coffee cars business food videogames)
Want to work with awesome people.
Want to go on quarterly(ish) company sponsored trips to hang out at technical conferences.
Be able to work for eight solid hours per day where at least five overlap with EST.
Be self-motivated and want to work for a company that trusts you to get your work done without a lot of watching over your shoulder.
Be a US resident.
You would stand out if you:
Have attained a four-year degree in something (...anything).
Have customer support experience (retail, help desk, consulting, etc.).
Have solid Ruby and Rails knowledge. Not the ability to write magically obscure code, but the wisdom to write clear code that looks obvious in retrospect.
Are comfortable with advanced git usage: rebase, rebase -i, merge –no-ff.
Are able to list a bunch of sources you actively use to keep current with Ruby, Rails, and programming news.
Are fluent in SQL.
Have fundamental image creation and manipulation skills.

Already do a lot of testing with RSpec.
