Purpose of Position:
Perform development services and database administration for enterprise SQL Server databases. Provide planning, design, and development throughout project lifecycle along with operational support and maintenance for production systems.

Main Accountabilities:
1. Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for database development in conjunction with Executive team, IT, Management, and other stakeholders

Work across all levels of the organization and partner with IT to understand database needs and develop data requirements and specifications
Develop solutions to complex software design issues during the product development cycle, keeping in mind scope limitations and the impact of other integrated products
Design, code, test, document, and implement high quality database solutions
Participate in identifying, designing, and optimizing SQL queries
Develop quality code that meets project and departmental standards
Participate with the IT team in change management review and implementation cycles
Understand and identify gaps in internal and external technological processes
Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues
Evaluate and create Operational Data Stores, Data Marts, and/or Enterprise Data Warehouses

2. Extract and organize complex data from AFN’s databases and servers to drive educated and informed business decisions

Identify, design, maintain and troubleshoot reporting solutions on SQL platform
Participate with IT and BI team in re-engineering existing data processing applications with aim to improve performance and durability
Develop, test, and optimize SQL scripts and queries to automate reporting needs
Extract and profile data utilizing Business Objects, SharePoint, and other potential analytical tools
Develop and maintain ETL (extract, transform, load) processes for data reporting servers for use by the Business Intelligence team, management team, and training purposes
Communicate areas of success and failure as it pertains to database and server issues
Perform data validation to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of analytic models
Apply innovation, creativity and rigor to development of server objects
Create organizational database tables and views and evaluate on an ongoing basis

3. Provide analytical support to all AFN departments to identify opportunities and fulfill business objectives

Analyze historical trends to identify key driving factors behind the organization
Create KPI’s, dashboards, and other data views for presentation and review
Gain buy in from all facets of business to achieve organizational alignment
Develop and maintain forecasting and financial models to drive improved business performance and alignment
Present analytical findings and recommendations to AFN business units
Create and format presentation materials for account management teams
Support revenue management, sales, and planning with insights and tools that lead to actions to drive overall revenue performance

4. Fulfill other duties as required

Individual Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required (economics, computer science, business, or information management preferred); or HS Diploma with 7+ years of relevant SQL work experience
Minimum 2 years experience in different facets of SQL server required (SSRS)
Solid SQL experience required
Previous analytical work strongly preferred
Pivot table master in Excel is required
Experience with Sharepoint and Business Objects preferred
Experience analyzing data and putting into presentation format in a way that is easily understand
ETL and Data Warehouse experience required
Demonstrable experience building data models
Experience constructing reporting data marts strongly desired

Skills and Competencies

Advanced SQL query syntax knowledge required

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
