As a Senior Unix/Linux Systems Administrator in the Ellie Mae SaaS Operations organization, the ideal candidate will join the team responsible for the entire management lifecycle of the systems supporting the Ellie Mae SaaS Service. This includes, but is not limited to: system capacity (CPU/memory) planning, systems design and integration, hardware / software / OS maintenance for servers, ongoing systems configuration management, and ownership of all systems in all data center facilities in which Ellie Mae maintains a presence.

Essential Responsibilities/Objectives:
  • The types of tasks this individual is responsible are a mix of structured and unstructured tasks.
  • This individual will apply his/her experience and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems.
  • Troubleshoot internal and external applications, hardware problems, operating system issues and work with new services on a daily basis.
  • Handle software and hardware maintenance, upgrade, installations and operations of all our systems.
  • Assist in the design, deployment and maintenance of all UNIX/Linux based systems
  • Document all processes, procedures and operations for both internal needs and end users when required. Ensure that all Sys Admin projects are documented, including design documents, ongoing status reports, and summary reports.
  • Formulate and implement monitoring, policies, procedures and standards relating to server management.
  • Participate in periodic off-hours downtime performing upgrades, installations, etc.
  • Participate in on-call rotation providing 24x7 systems coverage.
  • Demonstrates excellent understanding of technology and the role of the "client" in relation to the larger IT infrastructure.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
  • 8-10 years of Unix/Linux Administration experience supporting Java based applications.
  • Recent experience with RHEL/CentOS 5/6, including configuration, hardening, and tuning.
  • Experience supporting applications that use Apache, JBOSS, Weblogic (OSB) & JIRA.
  • Demonstrated solid understanding of Linux internals, performance tuning and general systems trouble shooting skills.
  • Experience developing system automation tools (using scripting language or config management tools).
  • Experience with provisioning tools like Cloupia.
  • Working knowledge of standard infrastructure tools (DHCP, DNS, NTP, SYSLOG, SSH, SVN, [SFTP etc.)
  • Experience with monitoring and graphing tools (Zenoss/Splunk).
  • Strong Hands on Programming skills in administrative languages, shell scripting, and PERL.
  • Cloud experience working with vendors like AWS, Rackspace, Tier 3.
  • Demonstrated understanding and adherence of change-control process management.
  • Windows Active directory experience a big plus.
