We are seeking an Sr. Systems Engineer for our Business Solutions Support group. This person will join a team that works to ensure around-the-clock availability and performance of Active's Enterprise class public-facing SaaS products. They will work closely with many other parts of the organization including development, QA and customer support to build and maintain world-class systems. Active's application services help organizations reduce the cost and complexity of managing the things people love, want, and need to do during their daily activities.
Build, deploy and maintain production and non-production servers in support of Active's internal applications
Identify weak points and vulnerabilities within infrastructure and provide recommendations for improvement
Perform problem resolution including root cause analysis of system and application incidents
Partner with development team to implement scalable and secure application configurations
Act as technology lead or resource as needed in support of new application and infrastructure projects
Develop relationships with and work alongside other functional IT groups such as networking, database and security
Assist with performance testing and tuning of complex and high-traffic web applications
Instrument applications to provide the best possible operational monitoring and metrics
Create, update and enhance written processes and documentation with a focus on ease of understanding and completeness
Participate in on-call rotation, receiving and responding to daytime and after-hours alerts
Perform after-hours or weekend system maintenance and application support as needed
Participate in change management and incident management processes
Provide technical leadership to offshore team
Identify and evaluate new technologies that can improve Active's products and processes
Skills and Qualifications
Expert knowledge as it relates to troubleshooting and resolving problems quickly and effectively in a production environment
Experience implementing and supporting multi-tiered, load balanced web applications
Excellent understanding of technical best practices for Linux and Windows systems
General understanding of various IT security concepts as they relate to production environments.
Working knowledge of SQL and RDBMS including Oracle and MSSQL Server
Working knowledge of Internet Protocols, Networking, and TCP/IP
Ability to read and understand .Net code and SQL stored procedures
5+ years’ of industry experience with Linux and Windows systems
3+ years’ of industry experience in administering Web applications
Good knowledge of .NET, Chef, Cfengine or Powershell scripting
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to foster and maintain both a positive team culture and service-centric environment
