Job Title: Senior Analyst - Indirect Tax
Join Microsoft’s highly respected Corporate Tax Department as a Senior Tax Analyst for Indirect Tax. The Indirect Tax team is responsible for ensuring Microsoft and its subsidiaries comply with all indirect tax obligations within the United States and Canada. The Indirect Tax Team is also responsible for providing strategic indirect tax planning relating to diverse business initiatives.
•Ensure compliance with state and local indirect tax laws and regulations.
•Ensure the timely completion and filing of indirect tax returns.
•Assist with management of indirect tax examinations conducted by state and local tax authorities.
•Perform multi-state tax research.
•Provide indirect tax guidance to Microsoft business divisions and other groups across the company.
•Assist with development and implementation of tax plans in support of business initiatives.
•Maintain transaction tax systems and processes to ensure compliance with indirect tax laws.
•Develop a thorough working knowledge of internal financial reporting systems and transaction tax calculation software.
•Implement modifications to procedures and systems in response to legislative and regulatory changes.
•Assist with indirect tax integration activities relating to acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations, and liquidations.
•Prepare and review monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
•Maintain strong working relationships and clear communication with tax authorities.
•The recommended qualifications for the ideal candidate include:
•A Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A CPA and an advanced degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.
•A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a public accounting firm or a large corporation, with a preferred concentration in multi-state indirect taxes.
•Experience managing transaction tax matters in an e-commerce environment is preferred.
•Experience in the use and maintenance of transaction tax calculation software.
•Excellent analytical, research, and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to clearly articulate complex tax information to individuals and groups across the company.
•Ability to collaborate with diverse and complex business organizations.
•Ability to manage large volumes of data and distill data into meaningful information for analysis and reporting purposes.
•Strong PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
