Performs non-routine and complex technical work of significant scope or degree of difficulty, requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Work assignments include layout inspections on complex metal or plastic components, gage design/development, supplier interaction, and participation in concurrent engineering activities. Collects and analyzes inspection data and supports process capability studies and AQAs. Works with vendors and internal departments to resolve various issues, coordinate work, and contribute toward project and organizational objectives. Conducts tests and/or supports other product development activities of significant scope or degree of difficulty. Provides guidance and expertise to lower level engineering technicians as required.
Position Description & Requirements:
Performs a variety of complex and non-routine inspection tasks to support material engineering group goals based upon a prioritized list of projects.
Performs work with minimal supervision from the supervising engineer.
Performs first article inspections and material evaluations in accordance with SMMD procedures.
Coordinates the design, fabrication, and troubleshooting of developmental inspection fixtures or gages as requested.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Two year Vo Tech Certificate in Quality Assurance or related with ten years progressive experience as an engineering technician (manufacturing or R&D)
High school diploma or equivalent with fifteen years progressive experience as an engineering technician (manufacturing or R&D)
