Senior UC (Unified Communications) Solution Engineer
As a Senior UC Solution Engineer, your primary responsibility is to provide design, consulting and implementation and support services to the company's customers. In this role the majority of your time will be in a billing capacity. This position will partner with members of the consulting and engineering teams as well as operate with a high degree of independence.
Provide technical leadership for Consulting Services projects.
Responsibilities include executive and technical-level communications and relationship building to gain credibility/trust of internal and external customers.
Provide knowledge transfer to the customer.
Perform analysis of the networking problems as well as provide highest-level crisis management.
Ensure familiarity with customer network planning, implementation and support processes and procedures.
Be a customer technical liaison for client's technical support and development teams.
Facilitate design reviews for proposed architectures.
Provide recommendations on viability, implementation strategies and optimal implementation of client solutions.
Demonstrate expert level knowledge of network topologies and conditions. Ensure changes to network topologies are made with minimal production down-time.
Engineer, configure and lead the design, configuration and deployment of VoIP and data networks including LAN, WAN, Cisco routers, switches, and other network infrastructure devices.
Deliver to current client requirements and generate additional consulting work by understanding the client's need and showing them the justification for new technologies that fit their business.
Assist clients in the daily maintenance of their voice, video and data network infrastructure including LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN, and VOIP. Serve as tier 1, 2 and/or tier 3 support resource for customers voice and data networks and related network infrastructure devices.
Manage data/voice/video internet working and work with vendors to escalate issues when appropriate.
Review network utilization statistics to verify that circuits are properly sized. Take proactive approaches in recommending bandwidth settings and QOS standards.
Provide regular status reports on tasks accomplished, current issues and progress toward goals.
Apply business development skills to identify potential sales leads and opportunities and communicate discovered opportunities to the regional sales team.
Expert-level experience in relevant fields of unified communications and collaboration technologies with network engineering and system implementation skills.
Expert-level hands-on operation of networking equipment, management tools and network analyzers.
Technical awareness of Service Provider networks and offerings.
Competitive equipment knowledge and service delivery experience with a channel partner, large enterprise or university, service operator (carrier), Third Party Network Consulting Services Company or other relevant industry.
Implementation and administration background with Cisco Unified Communications (Call Manager & Call Manager Business Edition, Unity, Unity Express & Connection, Call Manager Express, IPCC, Presence)
Prior experience configuring Cisco UCS servers and clusters, Cisco data center/enterprise routers/switches, Cisco Call Manager, Gateways, and familiarity with best practice phone deployment methods.
Good understanding of switching - VLAN, Voice VLAN, VTP, STP, Advanced QOS, PoE, Routing and switching concepts
Experience working as a consultant is a significant plus.
CCVP/CCNP - Voice or better required. CCIE voice and Specialty Certifications preferred.
3-5 years' experience with Cisco Voice and Cisco/Tandberg Video products and solutions.
5+ years' experience in LAN/WAN network administration and engineering.
Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
