The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine and maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities within the organization.
Essential Job Functions
Play a key role in month end close process by managing and tracking plant related close activities.
Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses.
Analyze and provide monthly margin analysis by part, customer, and product line to upper management.
Calculate and report month end cost variance analysis for all cost centers within the company. Report monthly gains and losses to management team; note any differences that relate to BOM issues.
Account for and review tooling and sample job analysis, identify and track losses and reconcile cost at the end of each month.
Provide internal and external auditing services for businesses and individuals
Assist Controller by providing meaningful analysis for management including monthly reporting on departmental budgets, inventory, and other ad hoc items as requested.
Compile financial data from multiple sources in a reporting format adequate for management to effectively analyze business trends, make informed long-term and short-term decisions, determine effects of costs on the business, compare actual costs to standards and identify reasons for variances.
Provide financial analysis and support for quoting, price negotiations, and comparisons to budget and other ad-hoc requests. Design automated reports and create efficiencies to support requests.
Participate in financial planning and budget preparation as well as follow-up controls related to both short-term and long-term plans. This includes setting up and coordinating budgeting and planning processes and reports for use by persons with department management responsibility.
Other projects as assigned by Controller and/or CFO.
Education, Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and possess strong Excel skills (i.e. Vlookups, pivot tables)
Must have experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software, preferably Epicor.
I n addition, this position requires unquestionable ethics and integrity, technical skills in account reconciliation, cost analysis,financial analysis, and month-end close responsibilities.
Extreme attention to detail, highly organized and ability to work independently required.
Demonstrate high degree of resourcefulness. Work with a variety of areas within the organization to provide and receive information.
