Waste Connections, the third largest waste industry company in the U.S., has an immediate position available for a Staff Accountant for our LRI Hidden Valley Landfill location in Puyallup, WA. The Staff Accountant position has strong growth potential and is ideal for someone that has the desire to become an Assistant Controller, and eventually a Controller, where s/he would be handling the accounting for several business units within the Company. As a Staff Accountant, you will be trained to do the accounting for several districts (business units), and will have heavy Accounts Payable responsibilities, will book journal entries, reconciliations, and may be involved in the budgeting and forecasting processes. A Bachelors Degree in Accounting or a related field is required. The ability to relocate within 2 years is also required for this position.

Responsibilities include:
Full Accounts Payable responsibilities

Performing monthly financial close functions through preparation of financial statements for each operating location

Reconciliation of general ledger accounts

Assist in the preparation of annual financial budgets

Assist in preparation of detailed budget, income or expenditure reports

Completion of monthly financial projection analysis

Learn rate analysis and review

Managing flow of accounting data to/from remote facilities

Evaluating and assessing internal controls and operating results including analysis of budget to actual results; presents cost reduction recommendations to management

Special projects as assigned

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 12 credit hours Accounting coursework is absolutely required

0-2 Years Accounting experience

Ability to relocate within 2 years of start date

Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple priorities

Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and related accounting business systems
