Description:
This staff accountant position supports the corporate accounting area of Wellington Management Company, LLP’s Finance department. The staff accountant is responsible for traditional accounting duties related to the monthly accounting close for Wellington’s legal entities. The position and related responsibilities are considered entry level.

Specific Responsibilities may include:
•Journal entry preparation, account reconciliation and work paper organization/filing for Wellington’s domestic and international legal entities
•Analysis of designated operating expense accounts. This includes variance analysis, forecast team support and potentially front office support.
•Preparation of monthly general ledger close processes including: transfer pricing, foreign currency revaluation, taxes, translation and elimination
•Fixed asset transaction processing, reconciliation and reporting
•Foreign currency exposure analysis and fx subsystem responsibilities
•External audit support including audit work papers and responding to auditor inquires
•Maintenance of procedure documentation for the area
•Preparation and/or first review of management and external financial reporting
•Preparation of filings and surveys for a variety of regulatory agencies (domestic and foreign) with adherence to strict deadlines
•Ad-hoc analysis and reporting

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a strong GPA required
•Internship in an accounting setting preferred
•0-2 years experience preferred
•Analytical aptitude with strong attention to detail
•Excel and system skills a plus
•Motivation, enthusiasm and initiative are highly valued attributes of Wellington Management Company, llp finance professionals
