Staff Application Scientist, Purpose of the Position: The Staff Applications Scientist initiates, designs, develop and implements complex product improvements and changes where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. The incumbent determines the need for product design improvements and methods to implement; assesses the impact of projects on aftersale costs; organizes and monitors field evaluations of current and new products for customer acceptance and validation; teams with Engineering and other departments to troubleshoot instrument and chemistry problems; participates in product definition and specification development; and develops and monitors test protocols to assess feasibility of product modifications; and prepares service documents. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. • Formulates/monitors project plans. May assign work to others. • May be the key contact for outside application/technology providers. • Adheres to research and development scientific standards. Recommends process improvements. • Leads training and guidance of junior scientists. Adheres to policies and procedures.

Qualifications
