The Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City invites applications for a Staff Associate position in the area of chemical engineering.
The incumbent applies the principles and practices of chemical engineering to the discovery of new and improved devices for the therapeutic processing of blood. Principal activity is experimental measurement and interpretation of flow parameters and concentration changes in flowing systems.
Incumbent must be able to plan, construct, operate, trouble-shoot and obtain appropriate data from bench-scale (in vitro) systems and to assist in experiments with animals in which in vitro results are proven. Data include pressure records and analyses of changes in the composition of flowing fluids. The principal skill-set is experimental but incumbent must be able to use computer-aided data acquisition and system control devices and software.
Ability to work in a collegial environment and to work well both as a team member and independently if required.
BS in chemical engineering or a close equivalent plus demonstrable laboratory experience with bench-scale fluid (preferably biological) systems.
