General Summary

The Student Counseling Services (SCS) invites applications for a Staff Counselor/Case Manager position, with a preferred start date of August 1, 2013. We are seeking a dynamic professional with the skills and creativity to share our commitment to excellence and who would enhance the diversity of our staff. We seek someone who brings well-developed therapy skills, strong interests in carrying a diverse clinical caseload, and who can also function as a clinical case manager. The case management duties of this position will include identifying community referral resources relevant to the needs of ISU students, developing partnerships with agencies to help students access and utilize needed services, facilitating referrals and information sharing with community based providers and other campus based services and programs, case management for students who are being treated by the Eating Disorders Network or who are being monitored by the Student Behavioral Intervention Team, and consultation with clinical staff, trainees and others to address the complex needs of students whose care requires coordination with multiple treatment providers or communications linkages with family or other systems of support. The Case Manager will maintain and update the department's referral database, as well as track, monitor, and follow-up on case management outcomes to ensure continuity of care. We are also hoping to develop a Social Work field placement program, and the person in this position would function as a supervisor for a student in this placement and serve as a key liaison to the School of Social Work. Position responsibilities include brief individual, couples and group counseling, involvement in our training programs, assessment, crisis intervention and management, career planning and development, consultation and liaison, case management and outreach programming. We are also looking for individuals with a demonstrated commitment to advancing the vision of a culturally competent counseling center and who have a willingness to work with underserved and underrepresented student populations. Finally, we seek a colleague who would strive to work collaboratively with their peers, both within the unit and across the campus and who has strong interpersonal skills and who enjoys building positive working relationships with others.

Required Qualifications

Master's in Social Work (MSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Desired Qualifications:
Strong preference will be given to applicants with college/university counseling center experience, and applicants with demonstrated experience in higher education case management.

Necessary Licenses/Certifications/Degrees

Master's degree in Social Work required. Must be currently licensed as an LCSW in Illinois or licensed at a comparable level in another state.

Hiring Rate/Range

Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Work Hours

M-F 8am to 4:30 pm; occasional evening and weekend work required.
