Employees in this classification are responsible for providing professional nursing care in an assigned specialty or subspecialty clinic. They perform a variety of general and specialized nursing duties as part of a total health care team to provide the patient with complete evaluations. Employees in this position generally assist the head nurse in the supervision of other clinic personnel and may substitute for this person in the event of his/her absence. May supervise and instruct subordinate nursing personnel. Receives supervision from head nurse or physician, functions independently within guidelines. May supervise ancillary nursing personnel in the performance of certain tasks, and assists in training personnel. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families, and other clinic personnel and outside professionals.
Assists Sr. Staff Nurse with development and implementation of clinic goals, objectives to facilitate improved patient outcomes; communicates professionally and effectively with supervisor(s) regarding all aspects of clinical practice; self directing and follows through with responsibilities and assignments in a timely manner; manages time effectively to reduce the cost of overtime; supervises and instructs subordinate nursing personnel as per clinic structure: delivers “professional nursing” based on knowledge and application of the principles of biological, physical, and social science; applies nursing process in the ambulatory setting, including observation, assessment, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitiation care and counsel, or health teaching of persons that are ill, injured, inirmed or experiencing a chanage in normal health; accurately assesses the patient, being aware of variances from the normal, and reports significant findings in a timely manner; utilizes patient/family interview, medical records, and physical assessment including taking accurate vital signs, weight and height measurements to formulate a patient care plan; adhere to standards of nursing; collects and performs tests ordered by phycians and prepares necessary accompanying paperwork; administers and documents medications accurately per phsyician’s order; renders complete and accurate verbal reports; accurately records end results of tests in patient’s chart; observes patient for reactions to administered medications and procedures, and annotates patient chart accordingly; notifies physician of andy significant incidents;

R.N. from an accredited school of nursing. Current RN license in the State of Texas. No experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to interact effectively and to communicate with patients, physicians, and other clinic personnel. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables; ability to exercise independent judgment; flexibility. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to operate basic equipment necessary in nursing care, as well as more sophisticated equipment required in assigned specialty area; knowledge of and ability to perform CPR ; Organizational skills; knowledge of assigned specialty area
Current license in the State of Texas; ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents; ability to respond to top common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; ability to exercise independent judgement; ability to use basic equipment, eg, thermometer, blood pressure cuffs, scales, stethoscope, as well as more sophisticated equipment; ability to follow directions, ability to observe pertinent detail; organizational skills.
