Performs professional pharmacy services to hospitalized patients and outpatients and provides the pharmacy program with clinical informatics support. Pharmacy services are provided under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and in accordance with regulatory agencies and requirements.
Successful completion of at least a full five year course leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in pharmacy from an approved pharmacy school, completion of one (1) year internship and a current license to practice in the State of Alaska are required.
Experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, and other computer applications.
This employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit.
Working knowledge of IHS RPMS software required.
Has experience with daily management of RPMS Systems knowledge of MUMPS preferred
Has working knowledge of RPMS and a demonstrated ability to analyze data
Has a working knowledge of RPMS System security audits.
Has direct experience with developing EHR projects.
Understands the principals of implementing and maintaining an EHR throughout the hospital and villages.
Develops, implements and maintains records control system.
Assists in the storage and preservation of drug stock and equipment and maintains balanced stock control.
Performs all aspects of medication management including filling prescriptions, performing medication reconciliation and advising the medical staff on various prescribing practices.
Recommends revisions or improvements to pharmacy policies and procedures for better delivery of pharmacy services.
Plans the pharmacy contribution to and participates in the preparation of orientation or refresher training sessions for the medical and nursing staff.
Assists in the implementation of new software products obtained by the facility that affect pharmacy operations.
Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and serves as liaison between pharmacy and Information Technology staff concerning these processes.
Acquires a comprehensive knowledge of the software involved to determine what procedural issues versus system/application deficiencies are. Assists staff in the efficient use of the current and new software.
Responsible for assuring that the most current versions of software are obtained and that connections with RPMS and other systems are implemented.
Actively works with staff and leadership to align process in RPMS and other software processes are working.
Designs, implements and executes projects to standardize, support and maintain a fully functioning EHR.
Works with programmers in local testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements and logs all problems, referring those requiring a higher level of technical support to the appropriate person or team.
Participates in ongoing self-study to improve job skills and knowledge.
