To serve as a Human Resources team member and support all of its work with the primary responsibilities in recruitment and employment of hourly and classified staff, handling media advertising for classified and hourly positions; processing classified transactions in human resources information systems and automated recruitment system; auditing BANNER data; and interpreting human resources policies in response to employee and supervisor inquiries. Assist the campus community with various issues in the absence of the Staffing & Operations Manager.
Knowledge of employment and EEO practices and principles. Demonstrated ability to interpret policy. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as independently process administrative work. Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines. Excellent organizational skills.
Several years of progressively more responsible human resources generalist experience as well as several years experience with human resources/payroll computer systems. Working knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia and/or university policies and procedures. Working knowledge of PMIS, Banner and/or PeopleAdmin.
