STAGE ASSISTANT TRAINEE
The Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) is located in the Antelope Valley, and is owned and operated by the City of Lancaster. LPAC consists of a 758 seat main stage proscenium theatre and the 110 seat Black Box Theatre. LPAC presents over 200 performances annually of musicals, comedy, Country, Bluegrass, Celtic, Rock, Ballet, Modern dance, Symphony, Choral productions, along with working outdoor events throughout the year.
The Stage Assistant Intern performs all duties under the supervision of the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following: perform as running crew for season and rental theatrical events, assist with: light hangs - focus calls – scenic/soft good hangs - set up of stage sound plots; operating follow spot and counterweight fly system; wardrobe duties; loading and unloading of trucks; maintain and clean all technical theatre areas and equipment. Must be available to work weekdays, evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
All candidates must have at least one year prior stage hand experience in the performing arts, or have taken High school level Stage Craft/Lighting/Sound classes, or possess experience and knowledge equal to the class work; be reliable and responsible; be able to work under supervision, and to plan, organize and implement technical theatre tasks; and possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions and to work well with people.
Salary: $8.04 per hour.
Hours: Hours vary depending on performing season from 0 - 40 hrs/week. There are no guaranteed minimum hours for this position.
