Position Summary:
The Stage Technician performs a variety of technical duties associated with the set-up, strike, operation and maintenance of EKU Center for the Arts light, sound, video, and rigging equipment and provides technical support to a diversity of performing arts forms: including dance, drama, music, opera, and spectacle. Assignments for the Stage Technician will vary depending upon the production and s/he may work in coordination with other technical personnel on specific shows. Work can include assembly, operation, and take apart of productions designed for multiple venue installations.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED is required.

Minimum Experience Qualifications:
One year of technical theater or other relevant work experience is required

Qualification Equivalencies:
OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of theater lighting, sound, carpentry and other stage equipment and systems. - Knowledge of the proper placement and operation of lighting, sound, carpentry, and other stage equipment and systems to obtain the desired theatrical effect. - Ability to take direction, successfully execute plans, and contribute to a safe, orderly, and calm work environment. - Ability to take responsibility, complete a task, ask questions, understand answers, and return to your supervisor when current assignment is complete to take on the next task.
