Incumbents in this position are trained to portray specific sets of health problems and symptoms that will aide students in learning the proper techniques and procedures for taking medical histories, performing medical examinations, determining diagnoses and learning the appropriate way to educate and inform patients of diagnoses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities associated with this position include: Performing a variety of duties after training and rehearsal to accurately and consistently portray specific types of symptoms of patients, knowing the history of their present illness, past medical history, physical exam results as well as their body language and their emotional and personality characteristics.
Demonstrate interviewing skills with medical students, interns, residents, physician assistant candidates and other medical personnel in training.
Instruct and practice interviewing and some superficial physical assessment skills with medical students. Give feedback after interviewing. Evaluate and assess their skills and progress.
Simulate a variety of clinical scenarios including a patients appearance, demeanor and affect, communication style, chief complaint, symptomatology, patient medical history, and physical findings
Deliver feedback in person verbally, by hand, by computer, by PDA or other communication methods.
No acting or direct experience is required. The minimum age eligible for hire is 14 years. Must have the ability to understand and follow instructions. Must have the ability to memorize and be improvisational.
Mainly needing males between 30 – 65 years of age.

Position may pay a rate of $7.25/ hour for orientation for training and may pay up to $20/hour for actual work performed as a Standardized Patient.
