General Purpose of Position:
Responsible for the preparation and assembly of complete and correct filings for submission to
state insurance departments in accordance with the statutory requirements for each state. In addition, the position is responsible for securing payment from the GFS system for filing fees. The State Filing Analyst has direct contact with state insurance departments for the purpose of follow-up until approval is received. The State Filing Analyst also responds to procedural inquiries and criticism from these departments, in addition to other similar state filing functions.
•Creates/reviews state insurance department rate and form filing submissions for accuracy, completeness and compliance with procedural filing requirements
•Maintains and monitors each filing’s detailed history from submission through approval
•Maintains and adheres to calendars of internal deadlines as well as of deadlines imposed by state insurance departments
•Submits filings with the appropriate documents via mail or electronically through SERFF
•Prepares Status Reports for each filing
•Obtains copies of statutes and regulations referenced in criticisms and may review for procedural regulatory compliance
•Finalizes criticism response letter, providing it along with the required attachments to the applicable state insurance department
•Closes filings in accordance with established state filings procedures
•Assists the State Filings Team Leader with gathering information and materials regarding market conduct exam issues
•Works with other counterparts in the other areas of Chubb to address state filings/compliance issues
•Orders filing fee checks in GFS based on individual state’ requirements
•Completes state transmittal forms in accordance with statutory requirements
•Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate with internal and external customers
•Good organizational skills to handle and control multiple assigned filings at various stages of approval while adhering to deadlines
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and SERFF
•Familiarity with reading and interpreting insurance regulations
•Working knowledge of insurance coverages, data entry and regulatory process.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. State filings experience preferred. Prior insurance industry experience required.
