Works with area supervision/management along with personnel from global Quality, Operations and Technology departments to execute activities intended to establish and/or improve upon the capability of various measurement systems used within ECT. Hands-on operation in both laboratory and production environments with the intent of maintaining the line of sight between a measurement system and its potential impact(s) upon product quality and understanding. Analyzes and interprets data from various sources. Compiles reports, charts and tables based upon established statistical methods using industry-accepted statistical software and practices. Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities based upon sound data-driven decision making. Initiates and completes capital projects where required. With limited direction seeks to integrate activities with those of other service groups. Provides training and direction to the rest of the organization in area of expertise.
Works with measurement system experts to ensure that MSA procedures are applied properly and at the appropriate time when being introduced to a quality laboratory.
Manages established MSA activities (e.g. round robins) ensuring that results and conclusions are properly communicated within the ECT business and actions are followed upon.
Leads/executes studies aimed at documenting and/or improving measurement system capability.
Works to identify and roll out best MSA practices across the division.
Participates in short and long term planning of objectives targeting improvement of measurement systems.
Monitors industry trends/advances in MSA and recommend/ implement improvements as necessary.
Assists in training of technical staff in other areas of the business.
Contributes to internal analytical conferences and seminars (e.g. posters, presentations).
Extends concepts to use within other development and QC functions as necessary.
Provides accurate and thorough documentation of all project work and training instructions including monthly reporting.
Complies with all JM EH&S based regulations and policies and local, state and federal regulatory requirements, ensuring safe pre- and post-process handling of all materials and samples.
Masters degree in a relevant discipline with 2+ years experience, or Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline with 8+ years experience. Experience must include a minimum of 2 years in using applied statistics to understand measurement system data.
Demonstrated fluency in statistical software (e.g. Minitab, SAS)
Strong analytical skills, verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to operate independently and as an experienced professional.
Advanced knowledge of applied statistics and ability to leverage this knowledge to further the understanding of new or existing measurement systems and their relationships to production processes.
Awareness of catalyst and techniques used to analyze and/or characterize composition and properties.
Domestic and international travel, possibly as much as 20%.
