The Storage Engineer will be a highly motivated, experienced, storage engineer interested in leading global projects and designing storage solutions with advanced emerging technologies. This role is a key member of the Operations Engineering team. The ideal candidate will lead the storage architecture, design and optimization decisions as well as help manage the company's bulk storage, file serving and backup infrastructure. The candidate will play a key role in designing and scaling the storage infrastructure and will be responsible for documenting and analyzing trends with respect to data types, storage locations, and data flow.

The candidate will lead advanced storage technology projects to deliver storage solutions for petabytes of business critical data across multiple contents and global data centers. S/he will identify and drive the implementation of advanced storage technologies like virtualization, automated storage tiering, thin-provisioning, compression, encryption, and replication technologies to further improve performance, reliability, and enhanced services operations.

This person will provide Capacity Management forecasting and work with suppliers to ensure that various YSI locations have the capacity for future demand. S/he will analyze overall storage capacity and performance data for optimum utilization of resources, evaluate new technologies and recommend future directions of the storage infrastructure.

Perform day-to-day break-fix and troubleshooting storage related tickets.

Maintain storage best practices and storage life cycle management.

Provide escalation support to other system administrators.

Provide mentoring and technical guidance to members of the overall Operations team

As a member of our highly motivated team the candidate should be dedicated to excellence and have a strong sense of personal responsibility. This is an excellent role for a seasoned professional with solid experience in large-scale, distributed data storage technology and architecture.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of 5 - 7 years of Storage experience with extensive knowledge of several of the following technologies; SAN, NAS, DAS, iSCSI, FC, NFS, FCoE, Infiniband, Ethernet, TCP/IP.

Extensive experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting high-volume, distributed storage solutions in mission-critical environments.

Expert knowledge and experience with large scale enterprise storage technologies such as replication, compression, de-duplication, and encryption methodologies

Knowledge and experience with virtualization applications; VMware ESX/VSphere.

Extensive experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat or derivatives

Strong analytical skills applied to capacity trending, proactive storage planning, disaster recovery, data protection design and configuration.

Strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve

Demonstrated customer focus - evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint

Self-motivated, capable of managing his/her time well, and work efficiently without close supervision.

Independent worker with proven ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects in a demanding environment

Excellent team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources

Change oriented - actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways

Excellent track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities

Strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication, organizational and leadership skills

Ability to interact across all levels of management

Demonstrated experience working with software / hardware vendors and working with and managing outside resources to provide technology solutions
