Storage Systems Engineer carries out administration of the datacenter storage environment, capacity planning and data replication for disaster recovery. Duties include administration of tools, processes, and policies used to manage storage networks and storage services such as virtualization, replication, mirroring, security, compression, traffic analysis and other services. The Engineer will work closely with operational and within engineering teams to manage capacity, utilization, policy and event-management including that of local offices in concert with datacenter systems for mirroring and/or vaulting. In addition, this function also encompasses numerous storage technologies including process automation, real-time infrastructure products and storage provisioning. Finally, management of the storage environment is closely tied to disaster recovery processes and preparation. Qualified candidates must have an expert proficiency in systems log analysis and high-end troubleshooting skills. Also necessary is a high familiarity with the installation, configuration and operation of network equipment and the ability to assist IT Systems Manager with the installations and configuration of server and client based computer softwares. Operational, monitoring and troubleshooting knowledge of various network technologies and systems and protocols whether for the purposes of performance, security or otherwise is required.
