What would I be doing in this role at Desire2Learn? The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing business strategies that will continue to increase revenue growth by expanding and strengthening the relationship with strategic education clients. The Strategic Account Manager will evaluate strategic client's eLearning strategy in order to create a joint business plan with the client in order to move the Desire2Learn relationship towards a higher level of loyalty and revenue generation. As the central point of contact for the client, the Strategic Account Manager will be required to build and maintain an excellent working relationship and work towards becoming a trusted advisor for the client.

What would my main duties be?
  • Responsible for exceeding revenue objectives within your assigned territory
  • Identify revenue opportunities within each client account
  • Managing a complex, enterprise solution sale to existing customers; moving the sale through the entire sales process actively engaging other Desire2Learn resources as necessary to ensure success
  • Responsible for all aspects of client relationship management
  • Leverage previous market experience to assist clients increase success and grow their programs
  • Develop a territory plan as well as, build and maintain Account Plans for each client account
  • Understand and deliver Desire2Learn's unique value propositions
  • Work well in team environments that include Subject Matter Experts to successfully achieve client goals
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients (in person, on the phone or virtually) to foster the relationship and understand client needs
  • Deliver virtual product demonstrations, answering detailed product questions
  • Effectively use the CRM tool to enter all sales information into the system
  • Liaise with Marketing to execute sales and marketing campaigns
  • Report on client activities and industry conditions
  • Forecast revenue
  • Escalate issues to appropriate departmental managers or executives to ensure high level of client satisfaction
  • Maintain a high level understanding of our software products
  • Maintain a high level of industry knowledge
  • Attend various conferences
  • Constantly strive to improve knowledge and abilities

What is Desire2Learn looking for from me?
  • 5+ years in a sales-oriented account management role
  • Client-facing experience in sales or account management
  • Working knowledge of web and database technology
  • Experience with a learning-related platform/system (LMS, SIS, or similar) an asset
  • Presentation skills and experience required
  • Achievement oriented, with ability to multi-task and handle multiple clients in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to craft a solution with appropriate products and services that meet business goals based on client discussions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective listening, negotiating and time management skills
  • Proven team player and ability to work well with others
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Fluent in English; other languages are an asset

Education Recommendations
  • Bachelor's degree recommended (technical, business or education-related is ideal)
